||The Central Coast Shalom Progressive Jewish Congregation holds regular Friday night services. Hebrew and religion school is held during school terms. The school caters for children from kindergarten age to bar/batmitzvah and has a very successful teaching model which is unique in Australia - parents must attend classes with their children. Please contact the secretary for more details.
The congregation was founded in April 1991 and celebrated its 10th anniversary in May 2001. Prior to its official establishment as a congregation, the Central Coast Shalom Progressive Jewish Congregation operated as a Jewish friendship group on the Central Coast. Among the more notable achievements since 1991 have been the establishment of a Jewish Cemetery at Norahville, an annual Tu-B'Shevat tree planting initiative with the local councils and a very successful outreach program to the non-Jewish community.
The Central Coast congregation is one of the smallest Progressive Jewish congregations in the world and is a member of the Australian Asian and New Zealand Union for Progressive Judaism.
