 What the Manual covers:

 

Introduction

The NSWJBD is taking steps to make information more easily accessible, as well as dynamically provided by the community.

The key changes include:

  • The JBoD APP
  • Website forms for users to create directory listings that will display with branding logos on the website and JBoD APP
  • Website forms for users to create communal events that will display with flyers on the website and with thumbnail images on the JBoD APP

Download and use the Mobile APP

The APP is located on the Apple App Store. You can either go to the App Store and search for JBOD, or you can use the direct App Store link     "https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/jbod-app/id1210253956?ls=1&mt=8".

The App functionality includes:

  • Display of events registered on the jewishsydney website
  • Display of directory listings registered on the jewishsydney website
  • Calendar for Jewish holidays (Chagim), and Shabbat 
  • Contact form for liaising with the NSWJBD
  • Personalisation of information display and notifications

Page Navigation icons are at the footer of the screen. The tutorial is available via the Settings Page.

Welcome Page

Enter your phone number and email address to validate communications.

Events Page

Scroll through communal events in date order. The event types displayed are set in your Settings page. The background image has a default where event originators have not specified an image. Click on any event to see more detail. Save events to your phone calendar by clicking Add to calendar in the page header.

Directory Page

Scroll through an alphabetical index of directory information. Use the right hand side alphabet to jump to selected index. Use the search field to search by category or keyword for directory listings. Save listings to your phone contact by clicking Add to contacts + in the page header.

Calendar (Chagim and Shabbats) Page

Scroll through an index of Chagim and Shabbat periods by month. Click on any entry to get more detail on the period. The next approaching Shabbat times are displayed with the Weekly Parashah in the header area of the screen.

Contact Page

Communicate with the NSWJBD for general information and feedback. Submit incidents that the NSWJBD needs to be aware of.

Settings Page

Choose the event categories and date/organisation filters you want displayed. Choose the location for your Shabbat times. Set your preference for information to be pushed to your phone. Show the APP tutorial whenever you need it.

 

Creation of Community Directory Listings

Enter the directory listing on the JewishSydney website at the Our Community/Directory Listing Form menu. (Note that you will require login to the website. See Website Registration section).

View and Update the listings on the JewishSydney website at the Our Community/Directory Listing Review menu.  The originator (owner) of a listing will have an edit field to the right of the listing.

To ensure the most effective communications of your listing, upload appropriate logos. The logo image should be a SQUARE image larger than 60 * 60 pixels and smaller than 90 by 90 pixels.

All directory information will be approved prior to publication on the website or App. Emails are sent to the user notifying them of status of their listing.

Creation of Community Events

Enter the communal event on the JewishSydney website at the Admin/Create Event Form menu.  (Note that you will require login to the website. See Website Registration section).

View and Update the event on the JewishSydney website at the Admin/Update Event menu. The originator (owner) of an event will have an edit field to the right of the event.

To ensure the most effective communications of your events, upload appropriate images. The event image should be a RECTANGLE image 375 * 125 pixels to display well on the iPhone.

All event information will be approved prior to publication on the website or App. Emails are sent to the user notifying them of status of their event listing.

Registration as a Member to the Website

Members of the NSWJBD and staff of constituent organisations can register automatically on the website at http://www.jewishsydney.com.au/membership.aspx  or via the HOME page of the JewishSydney website at the REGISTER selection.

You also need to send an email to support@jewishsydney.com.au requesting Member status. This email must be from your organisation/company email address.

Members have access to most parts of the website including the ability to create/update/view events, create/update/view directory listings, and view the internal calendar.

Registration as a Subscriber to the Website

Non-members of the NSWJBD can register automatically on the website at http://www.jewishsydney.com.au/membership.aspx  or via the HOME page of the JewishSydney website at the REGISTER selection. Non-members are typically business owners who want to list on the communal directory, or other advertisers in the printed diary who wish to lodge their advert.

Registrations are approved by staff and an email notification is sent to the member to complete registration.

Subscribers have access to most parts of the website including the ability to create/update/view directory listings.
